Passive Aggressive Woman Is Passive Aggressive
I went to pick up some allergy medicine at CVS today and it turned into a minor kerfuffle. Their allergy section was totally disorganized, especially the price labeling. After finding a deal looking too good to be true, I went back to the prescription counter to find out for sure.
The lady working the till was helping a customer so I stepped aside to wait my turn. I stood there for a bit but didn’t mind as I was waiting on laundry anyway. A few minutes later, she called me over and I explained the situation. She did a price check which showed a different amount than the sign so she had me show her where it was.
As we walked over to the allergy meds, a random woman told the cashier that there was a line of people already waiting and that next time I should get in it. At first, I ignored it as I had no idea what she was talking about. I didn’t see anyone else waiting and no one said anything about me very obviously standing behind the previous customer, so, whatever.
After finding the correct price, the cashier took me back to the till and rang up the medicine. At the same time, one of her colleagues opened the second cash register. The random woman approached it and proceeded to tell me repeatedly, “Next time maybe you should get in line.”
At first, I was mortified. People who know me well know that I would never intentionally queue jump. Normally, I’d apologize and feel like a tool for the rest of the afternoon. I don’t know what came over me but I instead kindly asked why she let me stand there, supposedly cutting, for four minutes. Seriously, why wait until I am already being helped and try to make me feel like a jerk for cutting when all anyone had to do was politely inform me that there was already a line?
Ultimately, I got served first AND an amazing deal on my medicine so overall… WIN.
